The Between the Lakes Demonstration Farm Network was formed in 2020 by selecting four innovative producers that had experience with cover crops and no-till. The participating farms are located within the Manitowoc and Sheboygan River Watersheds. They include a wide range of farm types with a common goal – to share the knowledge learned on their farms about innovative techniques to improve soil health. These farmers know that improved soil health results in better crop yields, reduced cost of production and cleaner water.
The participating farms demonstrate the effectiveness and adaptability of conservation practice systems that reduce erosion and sedimentation, control phosphorus runoff, and address other non-point source pollution issues. The Network is an efficient way to share practical information about the methods and lessons learned with other farmers, agribusiness, conservation agencies, and the public.
